Ephesians 6

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother(which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free. And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.

Slaves, – modern day employees

                                  as men-pleasers, –
but as slaves of Christ, – it is interesting that the same standard of comparison that is for the christian slave is also for Paul in Galatians 1:10.
doing the will of God from the heart.
will of God (Mark 3:35, Romans 1:10,

                                                    whether slave or free. And
masters, – modern day employers
do the same things to them, and –

knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and
there is no partiality with Him.
Finally, be strong – this could be translated be strengthened (CSB, HCSB, NET).
in the Lord and – the strength comes in the Lord
in the strength of His might. – it his the strength of his might. There’s no limit to this strength.
Put on the full armor of God,
                  so that
you will be able to stand firm
against the schemes of the devil.
                            For

our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
               against
                        the rulers,
                        the powers,
the world forces of this darkness,
                        the spiritual forces of wickedness
in the heavenly places. – This term (heavenly places) is only seen in Ephesians. Lit. «above the sky» INT: the battle is of a spiritual nature.  In Acts 19:35 we see that Artemis of Ephesus had fallen from heaven. Is this somehow connect?
Therefore, -based upon the struggle agains things in heavenly places, we see heavenly armor.
take up the full armor of God, – they were to actively take up an armor from God.
so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and – resistance is possible afforded the armor to do so.
                        having done everything, –
to stand firm. – standing firm is a result of taking up.
Stand firm therefore, – (take up the full armor of God)
having – how? having girded, having put on, having shod,
girded your loins with truth, and – gird (Luke 12:37), TRUTH
put on the breastplate of righteousness, and -put on as though putting on a dress. RIGHTEOUSNESS
shod your feet – bind on under your feet.
with the preparation – equipment, equipping (having this on hand)
of the gospel of peace; – PEACE Ephesians 2:17
                                             in addition to all,
taking up the shield of faith –
                                               with which
you will be able to extinguish all
the flaming arrows of the evil one. And

take the helmet of salvation, and – Isaiah 59:17
                                              the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God. – (TRUTH)
With all prayer and petition pray
at all times in the Spirit, and

with this in view, –
be on the alert
              with all perseverance andpetition

for all the saints, and
                                                      pray on my behalf,
that utterance may be given to me
in the opening of my mouth,
                                                                                to make known
                                                                                                    with boldness

the mystery of the gospel,
                                                                                                   for which I am an ambassador in chains;
that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak. But
that you also may know about my circumstances,
                                                                              how I am doing,
                                                            Tychicus,
the beloved brother and – Paul chose one who was seen as beloved – this was important because he was sent to love them by making known Paul’s sufferings and comforting them.
faithful minister in the Lord, – and faithful
will make everything -to disclose everything
known to you. – to the church in Ephesus
                                                                    I have sent him
to you -He was sent specifically to them
for this very purpose, -for a purpose
so that you may know about us, and
that he may comfort your hearts. – the comfort Paul wanted for them was through a beloved and faithful minister. He wanted to be comforted by godly comfort, not wailing and tears from paid people.
Peace be to the brethren, and love
         with faith,
from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all those
who love
         our Lord Jesus Christ
with incorruptible love.

this he will receive back from the Lord, – The perspective the believer is to have is his hope set on the eternal
whether slave or free. And –
masters, – modern day employers
do the same things to them, and –
                       give up threatening, –
knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and –
there is no partiality with Him. –
Finally, be strong – this could be translated be strengthened (CSB, HCSB, NET).
in the Lord and – the strength comes in the Lord
in the strength of His might. – it his the strength of his might. There’s no limit to this strength.
Put on the full armor of God,
                  so that-
you will be able to stand firm –
against the schemes of the devil. –
                            For –

our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but –
               against –
                        the rulers, –
                        the powers, –
the world forces of this darkness, –
the spiritual forces of wickedness –
in the heavenly places.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
shod your feet – bind on under your feet.
with the preparation – equipment, equipping (having this on hand)
of the gospel of peace; – PEACE Ephesians 2:17
                                             in addition to all, –
taking up the shield of faith –
                                               with which –
you will be able to extinguish all
the flaming arrows of the evil one. And –
take the helmet of salvation, and – Isaiah 59:17
the sword of the Spirit, –
which is the word of God. – (TRUTH)
With all prayer and petition pray –
at all times in the Spirit, and –

with this in view, –
be on the alert –
              with all perseverance andpetition
for all the saints, and –
                                                      pray on my behalf, –
that utterance may be given to me –
in the opening of my mouth, –
                                                                                to make known –
                                                                                                    with boldness
the mystery of the gospel, –
for which I am an ambassador in chains; –
that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, –
as I ought to speak. But –
that you also may know about my circumstances, –
                                                                              how I am doing, –
                                                            Tychicus, –
the beloved brother and – Paul chose one who was seen as beloved – this was important because he was sent to love them by making known Paul’s sufferings and comforting them.
faithful minister in the Lord, – and faithful
will make everything -to disclose everything
known to you. – to the church in Ephesus
                                                                    I have sent him –
to you -He was sent specifically to them
for this very purpose, -for a purpose
so that you may know about us, and –
that he may comfort your hearts. – the comfort Paul wanted for them was through a beloved and faithful minister. He wanted to be comforted by godly comfort, not wailing and tears from paid people.
Peace be to the brethren, and love
         with faith, –
from God the Father and –
the Lord Jesus Christ. –
Grace be with all those –
who love
         our Lord Jesus Christ –
with incorruptible love. –
